This years garden… (So far)

This years plant life in the garden & around the outside areas;

These beauties were added to the front garden this year, as last years plants didn’t survive… Or at least I think they are done. Anyone out there know, if when your Hydrangea is just dried sticks, it can be revived?

I must say, I ABSOLUTELY adore Hydrangeas. They are indeed the best flowers! There are many planted in various parts of my outdoor space. Some have no blooms though… Specifically the back garden, those were planted last year as just wee babies, but are growing fiercely!

And this lavender, say what! Fantastic little purple pineapples, I’ve never seen anything quite like this before.

For good measure, some oh so wonderfully red Dahlias were added this year.

Don’t forget to check out the Facebook page and instagram! Things are coming soon!

Rose

One more for today; after battling the wind and sun, having a particular vision in mind, and failing to meet it… A photo of a rose.

Napalm Vapes

Custom logo design for an up and coming company, Napalm Vapes. That I have been working on, from start to finish.

These fine folks allowed me to have free reign over their design and I couldn’t be more proud of the outcome. And to say I am blown away by their response to the final product, would be an understatement!

Total time taken, {from initial sketch Nov. 2015, to completion Jan.2016} approx 4+ hours. Created on Strathmore™ 400 Series 80lb (130g) acid free drawing paper, with Faber-Castell 9000 design H pencil and Pigma MICRON™ archival ink pens.

If you are looking for design work, for yourself or a start up. Please don’t hesitate to drop me a line and we’ll see what we can come up with :]

Adventuring: An old barn exploration & Nature walk.

Went on a wee excursion through the neighbouring woods, on a mission to this old abandoned barn near by. Photos were made and some discoveries found;

There were quite a lot, and I mean A LOT, of spider nests on this walk. [It was hard to not make photos of all of them. ha!] Some were rather huge, like the size of my head really. Quite fascinating these nests are, you can see the layers upon layers in them. Very cool.

Inside the lower level, and somewhat safer area, some interesting things were found. And some not so interesting, translation, gross [People frequent this spot it looks like – um there is no washroom facilities, lets just put it that way…]. Top notch exploration.

The adventure ended when the heat started to get to be too much and the battery on the old Canon was running low. I think there will be more trips out there in the future, there’s always more to be found.

Post editing all done in Lightroom using VSCOfilm –  Film preset used; Agfa RSX 200, with some minor tweaking.

Afternoon walk

Mothers Day; This year was spent going on an afternoon walk with my son, to make photos and explore. A familiar spot that we frequent near by.

Down behind the neighbourhood library there is this very nice park, complete with a pond and a little creek. We spotted a few creatures, but only one felt like allowing a portrait; And these wee bugs, I suppose they posed a wee bit no?

What a neat little frog, isn’t he? [Guessing on the gender as I really have no idea].

As usual, all photos post edited in Lightroom using VSCOfilm presets and minor adjustments.

A break from the rain (Canon 70D)

For a minute or two, the rain stopped and the sun came out. And so the Canon 70D was picked up and some photography was made;

Part one: A chair study of sorts. I really love this cushion, originally it was meant for the couch, but somehow it ended up on this awesome old chair. The contrast is fantastic! (Don’t let the darkness fool you, it was indeed sunny out – Just a little shadow play)

Part two: A wee study of my daughters Sector9 longboard. I’ve always enjoyed the colour of this things wheels, and even now still when they’re well used.

*Post editing was minor; Lightroom to fix the levels a tad using VSCOfilm, and a little crop here and there.

10.16.14 Test shoot: Canon 70D

Finally busted out the BEAST (Canon 70D) today! Wandering around the backyard, poking the lens into interesting things found behind crevasses, on the house and other objects laying about. With only a small amount of post processing done in Lightroom via VSCO Film. Really, straight out of the camera these photos look just fine, but! A little tweaking never hurt anything either ;]

Looking forward to getting into some long awaited projects, and some wanderings outside of this perimeter I call home. Stay tuned…

Tarah & Perry

I had the pleasure of making some maternity photos, for my dear friends Tarah & Perry, this past Summer. The weather wasn’t exactly cooperative and we were certainly cutting it close with the birth rapidly approaching. But in the end everything turned out great!

These are just some of the resulting photos, a few of our favourites.

tumblr_msytzqBpb41qcd494o1_500

Remember that little project I signed up for? (Ref: This post) Well, it has been completed, and mailed off to the Brooklyn Art Library! Hopefully they have received it by now; and are in the process of setting up the swap and digitizing everyone’s wee gessobord™ works of art.

I cannot wait to see what artwork I shall receive, as well as being able to view the rest of the participants works. This really was a fun project to work on and I look forward to the next one!

The newest project from Art House Co-op; A fun art swap!
You create a work of art under the given theme; this one being the Ampersand.
Mail it off, and then receive another artists creative work in return. It’s like pen pals for artists at the random. Pretty neat I think

Processed with VSCOcam with se1 preset

And today it has arrived! My ampersand project kit from the Art House Co-op. I can’t wait to get started on this little gem of a gessobord™.

If you haven’t signed up yet, you should! It’s going to be fantastically fun! Get yourselves over to the sign up page, found below;

Brian’s Record Option

The other day we took a trip to Brian’s Record Option, the local vinyl emporium downtown. The SO was looking for something in particular, and well, this is the place to go. If Brian doesn’t have it, then I suppose no one does! Ha. In all seriousness though, he certainly has just about everything one could be after, in impeccable condition as well. It’s all guaranteed too.

This is just a wee peek into the sea of vinyl at Brian’s. A little precarious, a lot to look at, and fab conversation.

A couple black and white shots of Brian’s wonderful shop and soul.

He told me a rather amusing story during our visit, of an Italian tourist couple that visited him once; The wife wanted a photo with him, and while the husband was getting himself situated with his camera, aiming, lining up his shot… His arm around her waist, and hers around his. Waiting. Focusing. Aiming. She proceeded to lower her hand further and further down his waist until… She grabbed his derrière! And click. HA! (Would love to see that snap! I would imagine it’s quite funny.)

You can see his smile through his eyes. Brian is truly unique, and it shows.

Toronto July 2013

We went on a wee trip to Toronto this past weekend; So the kids could go to Warped Tour, and I could explore my beloved city. These are just a few of the photos that were made, as the weather was not all that great for the one day that was available.

(**Spider Creeper prints are available)

And this is just a small portion of ‘Graffiti Alley’ in Toronto (Near Spadina Ave, behind Queen St.); this is about where the down pour started, thus ending our fun with cameras for a while. Next time a trip is made I will definitely get more; this area is pretty huge, and more time is absolutely needed to be spent here!

The Mobile Photo Awards 2012

It’s that time of year again, and once again I have entered… of course; The Mobile Photo Awards 2012!

About the Mobile Photo Awards 2012

The Mobile Photo Awards were founded to promote and harness the global phenomenon of mobile, or cell-phone, photography and art.  The awards are committed to presenting the art-form in galleries and exhibits.

The short-term goal of the Mobile Photo Awards is to celebrate the medium of mobile photography, the artists, the developers who create the applications and, of course, the beauty of the images. We believe that in order to bring the pictures into the public eye the medium must move beyond online photo sharing. While we are huge proponents of the online photo community we also feel that sometimes the images must be tactile, printed and framed, viewed on walls in a public space, and treated with the public respect accorded other art-forms. In order to achieve this goal, we have founded the Mobile Photo Awards in the hopes that the very best artists and images will be discovered in this manner.

The long-term goal of the Mobile Photo Awards is to continue hosting the annual awards, promote and produce gallery shows, and help raise the level public respect for our medium. We also aim to help educate and inform the art world that these images are remarkable and the tool used to create them is ultimately not as important as the images themselves.
